How to create a Dial Up networking connection to a Windows server.Click on Start and highlight All Programs.
Scroll up to Accessories and scroll over to Communications and
click on the New Connection Wizard. Click Next. If this is the first time you have used you modem a
Location Information window will open. Here you will enter your
country/region (United States is default), area code,
and a number to access an outside line if applicable. Click OK
to continue.
Click on the Connect to the network at my workplace
radio button. Click Next. Click on the Dial-up connection radio button. Click
Next. Enter a name that you would like to call this connection,
in the Company Name field, anything you like. Click Next. Enter the phone number of the server you are trying to
reach. Try to be specific, like the notes say country code if you need it. Are
you in a 10 digit dialing area? ect.
Click Finish. You might want to check the Add a
shortcut… box first though. Now that your dial-up connection is created, you can dial
your connection by either using the shortcut you created by going to
Start and highlight All Programs. Scroll up to
Accessories and scroll over to Communications and
click on the Network Connections.
Double click the Really big Dam icon to start the
connection to the dial up server. Enter the User name and Password of the user
that you gave Dial-In rights to on the server in the “Create a Dial-Up server
in Windows XP PRO-home-MC.doc procedure”. Click Dial.
